The Barossa Valley has always been fertile ground, not only for vines but also for innovative, driven winemakers such as Torbreck Vintners. “The wines are Australian but with European finesse, complexity and elegance,” says the managing director David Powell. CDAA was chosen to deliver a premium online brand experience for the winery. CDAA’s creative and digital services team worked collectively with Torbreck to plan the online strategy in a highly visual and interactive user environment. Visitors to the website are able to discover all of Torbreck’s wines and the vineyards that give them life. The website is content managed using ASP.NET and SQL technology and is maintained by the client administrator.

With branch offices in the USA, UK, Australia and NZ, Negociants International is one of the world’s pre-eminent premium wine exporters. We recently launched a redeveloped version of Negociants Australia’s national division website that focuses on making it easy for customers and employees to find valuable information about the Negociants international wine portfolio quickly.

Negociants’ previous website had served its purpose well, but needed to be upgraded in order to simplify finding specific products and their corresponding support files. One of the most common uses of the previous website was to locate tasting notes, press and point of sale files to prepare on-premise and in-store communications. Negociants wanted to retain this functionality while streamlining the process, so we created a file-cart system that lets people quickly find a product and add its associated files into the cart for forwarding to an email address. The cart has been built with a simple toggle that allows people to attach a collection of files or include them as links within the email to bypass the common issue of mail-server file size limitations.

The wine portfolio search function has received a major overhaul, making it the hero of the new website with its predictive search capability. As people type in keywords, the website constantly suggests results that may be akin to the information they are searching for. The advanced search option provides for complex search criteria to be set up using criteria such as Winery, varietal, region and country of origin. The website makes use of AJAX components to improve performance and ease of interactions, providing a smooth user experience.

Nick Waterman, General Manager – Negociants Australia, said of the new website,

“The advancements made in website technology since the original site was launched in 2003 have been significant and we set ourselves a challenge to use these new technologies to our full advantage”.

Based on the utility of the upgraded website, we are now in the planning stages with Negociants Australia for a mobile version that will be a useful tool for their national field sales-force who are constantly being called or emailed for product information by customers. The mobile version will be based on a user interface that is specifically designed for the mobile devices’ screen resolution and functional capabilities.

Fusion has just finished and launched a shiny (no…a well cellared) website for Australia’s First Families of Wine (AFFW), an exciting initiative of 12 family-owned Australian wineries. These iconic winery brands have partnered to create a unified front aimed at improving consumer, trade and industry body perceptions of the quality and depth of Australia’s mid and upper tier wines. The pedigree of this group is nothing to be sneezed at. They have a combined winemaking experience of over 1200 years, and their collective annual sales top $1 billion Australian dollars.

The founding members of the AFFW are: Brown Brothers (Victoria), Campbells (Victoria), D’Arenberg (South Australia), De Bortoli (NSW), Henschke (South Australia), Howard Park (Western Australia), Jim Barry (South Australia), McWilliam’s (NSW), Tahbilk (Victoria), Taylors (South Australia), Tyrrell’s (NSW), and Yalumba (South Australia).

With all AFFW members being pioneers of winemaking in Australia, their unique backstories are emotionally engaging and powerful. To bring these stories to life and highlight the family dynamic in these businesses, video vignettes were created and are carefully presented on the website. The website makes use of social media and Web 2.0 technologies to create a further conversation around the AFFW’s activities. Google Earth provides a global geographical context to winery locations around the nation and RSS feeds and twitter are being used to keep people informed of the group’s activities.

Check out the website here, but more importantly, broaden your palette by trying their great wines!
